For those of you aiming for a cycling holiday combining the discovery of a new European region (along the Ruhr river in Germany - State of North-Rhine Westphalia), culture, luxury hotels with swimming pools and spas (some), transport of your luggage, and of course some cycling!, whilst keeping the cost under control (DIY trip, no expensive middle-man/woman), this is for you!
The trip starts in Winterberg (South-East on the map) and finishes in Mullheim-an-der-Ruhr.

The cycling is going westward as we will be going down-river rather than up.. No, it is not a coincidence! We will be riding over 5 days between 20 miles and 35 miles a day.
Approximate cost:
The local cost in Germany including bed & breakfast accommodation, hybrid bike rental + transport of luggage, but excluding meals during the day, and transport from London and back is:
- 400 Euros per person if you stay in a twin/double during the trip,
- 540 euros if you stay in a single during the trip.
