Easter 2020 Lake District Elterwater Trip Information

Easter Lake District Trip Thursday 9th to Tuesday 14th April 2020- five nights

The CLOG Easter Lake District trip is to Elterwater in the heart of the stunning Langdale Valley.
Elterwater is described by the Wainwright Society as a perfect base for fell walking, with so many notable fells in the vicinity”. Staying there gives us the opportunity to climb the Langdale Pikes and there are also plenty of stunning lower level walks in easy access, which could be useful if the weather is poor.

Elterwater is fairly easy to get too, as Windermere train station is about eight miles away and from there you can come by bus with a change at Ambleside.

We will be staying five nights at the independent Elterwater hostel (https://www.elterwaterhostel.co.uk/) which has excellent reviews (five stars on trip advisor). It was formally a YHA hostel and is run on similar lines. So, we can make our own food in the kitchen or order breakfast, packed lunches and dinners. There is also a lounge for us to gather each morning to plan trips and a drying room if we return sodden. We have booked four rooms for thirteen people.

Elterwater is a quiet village with stunning views and a couple of excellent pubs for our food and drink needs – the Britannia and Eltermere Inn. The Britannia gets the thumbs up from some CLOG ale drinkers and is described by the hostel as being in stumbling distance from its front door.

There are a few accommodation options, including the pubs, for people who would prefer not to stay in the hostel. However, if you wish to book your own accommodation, you must agree this first with one of the Helens who are working with Ralph to organise the trip this year.

We plan to open for bookings on Monday 28th October at 7pm (normal jot form way) and anticipate a charge in the region of £160 (not including meals). We will give priority to people who are willing to lead walks.

You need to be a member to come on this trip.
