Preliminary information on some easy cycle rides coming up in the next few months.  


Martello Towers and 12th century Abbey Cycle Ride 23 miles 
We cycle out of Great Bentley south to St Osyths where we stop to look at what remains of the great abbey of St Osyths, then further south to the coast at Seawick where we may stop for coffee.  We then follow Cycle Route 150 through Clacton and Frinton to Walton on the Naze where we pass 5 Martello Towers. When we get to Walton we will explore the Naze nature reserve and admire the fantastic views and the old sea mark tower.

Crab and Winkle and Thanet coast cycle ride 24 miles  Woods, Cliffs, Sea and Sky
We will be cycling from Canterbury to Margate via the Crab and Winkle and the coastal cycle path: Woods, Cliffs, Sea and Sky. Passing through charming seaside towns: Whitstable, Herne Bay, Birchington, Reculver and Margate. We will be stopping for morning tea, lunch and probably afternoon tea somewhere along the way

Surrey/Sussex lost railway cycle ride Christ's Hospital to West Worthing 26 miles
We will be cycling along part of the lost railway that once ran from Guildford to Shoreham. (aka the Downs link) through the middle of the South Downs National Park!.  From Shoreham we will continue along the coast to finish at West Worthing.  This ride should be suitable for hybrids or similar.

Lost Sussex railways cycle ride: Three Bridges to Tunbridge Wells 23 miles
We cycle out of Three Bridges along the Worth Way to East Grinstead  then along Forest Way which is within the High Weald AONB  to Groombridge. Both cycle paths follow the lost railway that once ran between Crawley and Tunbridge Wells. Then we are on minor roads (NCR 18) to Tunbridge Wells.

Surrey/Sussex lost railway cycle ride Christ's Hospital to Guildford
 This is the first part of the lost railway that once ran from Guildford to Shoreham. (aka the Downs link).  This should be suitable for hybrids or similar.  We will be starting in Christs Hospital and finishing in Guildford where there are frequent trains back to London.
