Participants must not attend if they have
Covid-19 symptoms, have someone in their household who does, are in the
extremely vulnerable category or if they have been asked to remain at home by
the UK Government test and trace system.

Consider the risks when planning your route,
avoiding busy areas where possible, and consider how social distancing measures
may impact on the activity, including things like the areas where you start,
stop or take a break.

Ensure participants are able to maintain appropriate social distancing while not
riding

Ensure all participants are aware of the safety guidelines
and what is expected before, during and after the activity, including how to comply with social distancing
guidelines and all other health, hygiene and safety guidelines

During the activity

Participants must practice good respiratory hygiene during
the activity (i.e. coughing, sneezing into a tissue or the crook of an
elbow).

distance from others while riding.

When riding two abreast, riders should aim to
stay beside the same rider for as much of the ride as possible

Ensure all health and safety and emergency First aid
guidelines are followed.

Participants must provide their own equipment and
refreshments and avoid sharing the like of water bottles and food.

Refreshment stops are permitted, however at these points you
should default to the Government’s general guidance for social meetings and
split into wholly separate groups of no more than six riders. Individuals
shouldn’t move between different groups during your stop. Make
yourself aware of and adhere to all other guidance put in place by the
establishment.

After the activity

Participants should wash/sanitise their hands after the
session.

Participants leaving the activity must maintain social
distancing.

If a participant develops Covid-19 symptoms within two days
of taking part follow NHS Test and Trace guidance and inform leader so that the
other participants can be quickly informed and take the necessary steps in line
with NHS Test and Trace guidelines. When
informing other participants, the leader or coach should not name the person
who tested positive in order to protect their privacy unless there is a
specific reason.

The idea is to fly to Bari (Ryanair, Easyjet and BA fly direct from London to Bari and the flights are very reasonably priced), overnight in Bari and then take the train to incredible cave city of Matera - one of the most spectacular cities in Italy and a Unesco world heritage site: just google it to see the amazing photos.

Spend 2 nights in Matera and hire bikes there and then take the train to Altamura when the cycle ride begins.
We cycle from Altamura to Trani over 4 or 5 days, visiting lots of lovely old towns on the way eg Cassona del Murge, Aquaviva del fonti, Cassamassima, Adelfia, Bitetto, Terlizzi, Corato, Andria, Barletta and Trani. We finish on the coast

We did a cycle trip to Puglia a couple of years ago - see: the photos this one is to a different part of Puglia (although we still go to Matera) but no Trulli houses or hill towns this time but it should still be very enjoyable.

The route is mainly downhill or flat on quiet roads.

Accommodation: we would book that ourselves using websites such as booking.com.
Cost of bike hire (and bike collection in Trani): around 80 Euros

This trip is for CLOG members only. Despite the fact that that you will be spending the first part cycling through the dolomites there are no steep ascents or descents as we will be cycling on the Ciclabile delle Dolomiti (Cycleway of the Dolomites) following the route of the train line that once linked Austria and Italy, one of Europe’s most scenic cycleways.
These videos give you an idea: See: https://vimeo.com/152164534 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygLS-FnW_Jc

After leaving the Dolomites, we pass through historical towns and beautiful wine growing countryside before following a river to the edge of the Venetian lagoon. The we go island-hopping across the varied islands that span the lagoon.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">You need to be a member of CLOG to come on trips away.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8959454136156647362.post-47916250202796988102019-09-21T12:37:00.000+01:002019-09-22T10:36:30.356+01:00Trips away next year are already booking up.
<div class="_5pbx userContent _3576" data-ft="{"tn":"K"}" data-testid="post_message" id="js_fd1" style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; color: #1c1e21; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 1.38; margin-top: 6px; orphans: 2; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;">

A cycling trip to Germany was fully booked in a matter of hours. Ditto for a cycling trip to the Normandy beaches in June.

In terms of walking trips away, so far we have a New Year trip to Mankin Holes, a May trip to the Yorkshire Dales and an Easter trip to the Lake District.

Trips away are run at cost or occasionally subsidised but they are run by volunteers so people need to be prepared to chip in and help if required. You need to be a CLOG member to go on trip. Non-members can come on up to 3 events (but not trips away) to try out the group.

For those of you aiming for a cycling holiday combining the discovery of a new European region (along the Ruhr river in Germany - State of North-Rhine Westphalia), culture, luxury hotels with swimming pools and spas (some), transport of your luggage, and of course some cycling!, whilst keeping the cost under control (DIY trip, no expensive middle-man/woman), this is for you!

The trip starts in Winterberg (South-East on the map) and finishes in Mullheim-an-der-Ruhr.
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/30804729

The cycling is going westward as we will be going down-river rather than up.. No, it is not a coincidence! We will be riding over 5 days between 20 miles and 35 miles a day.

Approximate cost:

The local cost in Germany including bed & breakfast accommodation, hybrid bike rental + transport of luggage, but excluding meals during the day, and transport from London and back is:

400 Euros per person if you stay in a twin/double during the trip,

540 euros if you stay in a single during the trip.

If you are not already a member of CLOG you would need to join (£15 for a years membership) to come on this trip

Click List Ignore any other CLOG events that you see and click the Green + Add Event button.

Enter the event title and date. Then Options, Signup. Enable Event Signup and Enable Maximum Number and set the maximum number of attendees to reflect the attendee cap for your event. Set the signup deadline to be after your event (unless you want close bookings earlier). Set who can view signups to All Users. Click Done and then click Save.

You've now set up your event on Teamup with a maximum number of attendees.

To generate a link to include in your booking email click on your event which now shows in the list, click Share then select As Page and copy the link and paste it into your booking email.

It is probably wise to include some instructions in your booking email so that people know how to book/Sign up for an event. For example, I include the following text in my email:

<p style="box-sizing: inherit; color: #283842; font-family: "Open Sans", sans-serif; margin: 0px 0px 10px; min-height: 22px;">"Click on the link below and then on the blue Sign Up button.
<p style="box-sizing: inherit; color: #283842; font-family: "Open Sans", sans-serif; margin: 0px 0px 10px; min-height: 22px;">https://teamup.com/event/show/id/M95HtiECRdTRcaJYZfsDD8sJHF1wCT

<p style="box-sizing: inherit; color: #283842; font-family: "Open Sans", sans-serif; margin: 0px 0px 10px; min-height: 22px;">Fill in your name and email. You will then see a green note on the top of the screen saying that sign up was successful which means you are booked onto the ride. If you refresh the above link you will see your name (but not your email address) at the bottom of the screen as one of the people signed up. Other members booking on will see your name there as well so only use if you are OK with that."

Obviously you would use the booking link specific to your event.

Advantages of Teamup compared with other methods.

With Teamup, all the information is held in one place (with admin access) while still leaving leaders free to manage their own event bookings and settings. This has advantages over individual jotforms or email bookings which are only accessible to the leader:

1/ If we are contacted by Track and Trace and the leader is difficult to contact, we can still access the booking and attendee information.

2/ We can include a list of upcoming teamup booking events on the weekly hotline eg: https://teamup.com/kspfaqxjns78zp14go so that members can easily check if any of these still have vacancies

3/ Although jotforms are easy to use, Teamup is even easier! For example:

If anyone cancels, leaders can just click Remove to delete them from the attendee list (rather than having to log into the jotform and remove the relevant submission).

When people book a place on a Teamup event, they can actually see straight away that they are on the list

Potential attendees can see how many places are still available

4/ For other purposes where we are collecting more information than just names and contact details eg trips away, then Jotforms are far better as Teamup just collects the basics.

clogeventshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11862669519914865721noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8959454136156647362.post-68380502828997682082019-08-18T20:15:00.001+01:002020-02-09T21:12:05.117+00:00Upcoming trips As well as day walks, cycle rides and social events, we usually have around 20 or more outdoor adventure trips away each year - walking, cycling, city breaks, kayaking, paddleboarding, both in the UK and abroad.

CLOG trips are non-commercial and are run at cost or occasionally subsidised. This makes them incredibly cheap compared with holiday companies but you have to remember that organisers are volunteers and people are expected to chip in and help out. CLOG is a club run for and by members and is aimed at people interested in making friends and putting something back into the club.
Some of the trips on this list are already booked up and many others are not yet open. You have to be a CLOG member come on a CLOG trip.

The following trips are planned for 2019 - more will probably appear as we go through the year.
January walking in Pembrokeshire
March Cycling Catalonia Greenways and Coast
Easter Peak District Cycling and walking and Lake District walking
May sightseeing in Turin and walking in Portmadoc (Snowdonia)
June Cycling in Brittany
July Scarborough
August walking in Lake District, cycling in Scandinavia or Baltic states, Thames Sailing Barge to Red Sands Sea Forts
September Walking in Heidleburg and Odin's Forest, Cycling Dolomites to Venice
October Cheddar
November
December South Pennines
