The CLOG publicity team is organising the next riverside pub evening on Wednesday 21st September to give existing, new and prospective a chance to meet up and socialise. This time we will be meeting at a well-known old pub, the Anchor Bankside in Southwark which has a terrace right beside the river. The address is 34 Park Street, SE1 9EF and it is on the south bank of the Thames between Southwark Bridge and London Bridge (right beside Cannon Street railway bridge). It was from this pub in 1666 that famous diarist Samuel Pepys witnessed the awful destruction of the fire of London – he wrote in his diary that he took refuge in ‘a little alehouse on bankside… and there watched the fire grow’.
We will be meeting from 7.00pm out on the terrace (or in one of the bars if the weather isn’t fine). The pub has a good selection of beers and a wide range of food from snacks to pub classics and also provides vegetarian options. The nearest tube station is London Bridge and the easiest way to find the Anchor is by joining the Thames path and following it along to the pub. Pease invite friends and colleagues who may be interested in CLOG. We hope to see you there!
