About

CLOG is a friendly outdoor activity group for people living in and around London.

We are happy to welcome anyone who enjoys walking, cycling, hillwalking, exploring our countryside and other outdoor activities. The club is run by its members for its members. All members are welcome to organise events.

People of any age are welcome to join but the majority of our current members are in their late 30s to 50s.

There are typically around four to eight events every week. You are welcome to attend three events to try out the group; after that we ask that you join. The membership fee for one year is £15 for new members.

Walks and cycle rides
These are often on Saturday or Sunday and are usually in the countryside, easily accessible by train. A typical walk is about 10-12 miles (but distances can be anything from just a few miles up to 15 miles). A typical cycle ride is 25 to 30 miles but again the distance can vary.

We also have walk and cycles rides during the week as well as evening walks that often explore parts of London. There is no charge to come on our walks or rides.

Trips away
We have regular trips away for weekends and longer holidays. These go further afield than day walks - to National Parks, the coast or areas that are less easy to reach from London. We also have overseas trips; some of these are walking breaks and others focus on sightseeing. Trips away are run at cost (to pay for food and accommodation). We stay overnight in places that are cheap and can accommodate groups. Often these are youth hostels or independent backpacker hostels. You normally need to be a member to come on a trip.

Other outdoor activities
As well as walking and cycling, we offer opportunities to try out other outdoor activities such as canoeing, sea kayaking, sailing, champing, orienteering, horse riding and beachcombing.

Socials
We also have an active social programme including monthly social evenings and visits to pubs, restaurants, exhibitions, plays and films.

NB CLOG is non-commercial and events are organised by members of the club on a voluntary basis.  All participants should make themselves aware of the risks inherent in walking, cycling and other outdoor activities and take responsibility for their own actions and choices of activity.
